Tara Madgwick - Monday, 27 June 2011

Outstanding producer Snowdrift (FR) kept her perfect record intact when producing her sixth winner from six foals to race at Goulburn on Monday. The Guy Walter trained Encosta de Lago colt Eucumbene strode home an easy two and a half length winner in the 1300 metre maiden as a short priced favourite, improving f rom his debut second at the same track on June 10.

A $300,000 purchase for James Bester Bloodstock from the Tyreel Stud draft at the 2009 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Eucumbene (pictured) runs in the Kia Ora Stud colours that were carried to victory in a Listed race at Eagle Farm last Saturday by Mahisara.

Eucumbene is a half-brother to Group I winner and sire Snowland, Group II winner Portillo and stakes-winning sire Snippetson as well as stakes-placed Freeze, also a sire and Snowden.

A well-related mare by Polish Precedent, Snowdrift has changed hands on a number of occasions after starting her stud career with Stratheden Stud.

She fetched $1.5 million when offered as part of the Vinery Dispersal in 2005 and then made $775,000 last year when sold by Tyreel Stud at the Inglis Broodmare Sale where she was snapped up by Keiran Moore Bloodstock on behalf of Cressfield.

Snowdrift has a weanling filly by Red Ransom (USA) and is in foal to Redoutes Choice.
